| Well, since we are starting to get a few new visitors, I guess I should get this thread started. I'm a 38-year-old guy living in Western NY, and I've been drinking sake for a fairly short time. Some of my current favorites are Wandering Poet, Southern Beauty, and Ozeki Nigori. I'm currently trying to sample as many different sakes as I can, which is a bit problematic considering where we live. Fortunately, an excellent new liquor store just opened near us. They have a pretty good selection, and have been able to do a couple of special orders for us already. I'd really like to start up a local group that can get together for some informal tastings. |

| Good site and great idea, always looking for good sake resources. I started my blog http://www.sakeworld.com a couple of months ago and it's great to see so many people interested in this wonderful beverage. |

| Welcome, Bob, and thanks for joining. I already put a link up to your site in the "Links" thread (http://www.sakeforum.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=59). Please feel free to add any of your favorites. Also, I think you can put a link to your site in the signature of your profile. I haven't tried it yet, but in theory it should work. I can't wait to read more of your sake posts, either here on on your own blog! |

Hello and welcome, Alex. I don't really know enough to answer your question about the bottle you have. I do know that that, in general, sake produced during WWII was of a fairly low quality because of rice shortages. That's when many brewers were forced to add alcohol to the batches in order to increase the sake output. But that might not have any bearing on the value of your bottle.
Your best bet would be to email John Gauntner directly with your question. You can contact him via his website: http://www.sake-world.com/ I have emailed him in the past, and he is usually quick to respond to sake-related questions.
I am also a big fan of Nigori sakes. So far my favorite is Ozeki. It is surprisingly good considering relatively inexpensive it is. Kamoizumi is another one I like. So far the only koshu I've had was Hanahato Kijoshu Junmai, which had a weird raisin-like flavor that was a bit too sweet for me. But next week I'll be trying a new (to me) one: Tenryo Junmai Daiginjo Koshu. I'm helping to host a local tasting event, and that's the only one that I selected without having already tried. I really like the Tenryo Hidahomare Junmai Ginjo, so I'm hoping their koshu is equally good. I will be sure to post something about it after the tasting. |

OK, I live in Oregon. Late last year I started an online shop for sake brewing supplies. I am adding content to this site as well but this will take time.
I am not much into Nagori, too sweet. I like Murai Family Tokubetsu Honjozo quite a bit
